How do I get to and from the Belize International airport?

We book domestic airline transfers from Belize International airport to the Dangriga airstrip. Just tell us your international arrival and departure times and let us do the rest!

 

How long is the boat ride between Pelican Beach Dangriga and South Water Caye

The boat ride between Dangriga and South Water Caye is between 30 and 45 minutes. Boat times are dependent on the weather and condition of the sea

Does the beach on South Water Caye have seaweed?

Seaweed can be an issue along our beaches during certain times of the year. There is no way to predict when it will wash ashore in larger quantities or how long it will last. Though seaweed may not seem ideal, it is perfect for our ecosystem since it serves as a home to an amazing variety of marine species, including our endangered sea turtles. As eco-friendly destination, we are committed to preserving and protecting our country’s natural beauty by keeping it as pristine as possible. We would like to make note that we do maintain our beach daily by raking excess deposits on the shore and moving it away from the beach.

Are there mosquitos and flies?

Belize does have a tropical climate and bugs (mosquitoes and sand flies) can be expected. So, the short answer is yes. On the island, they are less active during times of high wind, but if you are sensitive to biting insects, it is very advisable to bring insect repellent.

What time do boats move to/from the island?

Our boat transfers are based on guest arrival/departure times. We usually have one boat in and out per day, but can make special arrangements based on your travel itinerary!

Is there electricity on the island?

Yes! Our property is powered by the sun! There are outlets in your room where you can charge your electronic devices.

Is there WIFI on the island?

There is no WiFi in the cottages as we try to provide the perfect environment for guest to “escape” their everyday lives and fully immerse themselves in the island life! However, we do have WiFi in the main restaurant/lodge area where you can reply to emails or check in with family.

Do cottages have AC?

We do not have air conditioning on the island, but we do have the natural Belizean breeze to keep you cool. Each room/cottage is equipped with a fan to keep you cool on those warmer nights.

What if I get hungry in between meals on the island?

Our meals on the island are generously portioned but do not hesitate to ask for seconds! If you get hungry in between meal times, our bar is stocked with snacks and we do offer a mid morning and mid afternoon snack!

Do you cater to Vegetarians or Vegans?

Yes! Just let us know what allergies or restriction you have and we will accommodate!

Are gratuities included in the package price?

The package rates do not include gratuities. We have developed a suggested gratuities guide in response to guest feedback. Please bear in mind that it is meant only as a guide for you and the actual amount is left totally to your discretion and dependent upon the quality of service. We can suggest that 20 – 30% of your package total. Operating Pelican Beach Resorts is a team effort which involves a lot of behind-the-scenes staff along with our awesome front line personnel. We ask that if you choose to leave a gratuity, you leave the entire amount on your signed invoice and pay for it with cash or credit card at check-out. Gratuities are pooled every two weeks and distributed by upper management.
